As we loaded the car for our annual trip to the 4th of July fireworks with Granny and Papa, this little drama unfolded and I was just in the right place to get the perfect pout! I absolutely love this picture, but then I absolutely love this girl. The kids were actually very good the whole day though, and the fireworks were wonderful, as was the visit.

Riding home from McDonough, Georgia I stopped in a few spots for some pictures. I’ve always liked Manchester. The once busy factory right in the middle of town is now closed. I believe it used to be a hair brush factory. The air was clear and the sun was low but bright. This was taken around 7:00 PM using the kit lens on my Rebel T1i; no filters, almost no editing save a crop.

Standing there facing the rear wall of the main factory building, there was a field behind me. The field was in a depression as deep as the hill in front of me was tall, and just as green. Looked like it was once a water runoff pond for storms, factory use, or something. Across the depression is a beautiful white church, the face of the building was lit by the sun that was trying to hide behind the factory.

Peoples work and livelihoods were made … and broken in the factory before me. Their hope and faith stood behind me.

I went to the break room for coffee today and then thought, this coffee really bites. Why not drive over to BAM for a real cup of Joe. So I did. I snapped this photo walking out to my truck. The coffee was great and I enjoyed the nice break from the office so much, I stayed an hour. For the last 3 days I’ve been chained to my desk for 10-12 hours a day, no lunch break, only fast trips to the “washroom”.
